The Fluvanna County Historical Society Invites you to the Summer Season of the Old Stone Jail Museum

Early School Days in Fluvanna
Early School Days in Fluvanna.

Featuring the exhibit: Early School Days in Fluvanna
Learn about the early schools of Fluvanna, what the life of a student or teacher was like, and where previous school buildings were located.

Old Stone Jail Museum was built in 1828, designed by General John Hartwell Cocke and built by John G. Hughes. The early minutes of the County Court indicate that a “sufficient Gaol” was needed. In 1963 the “Gaol” was opened as the museum for the permanent collection of Fluvanna historical artifacts.
